Let's Celebrate National Bike Month!
As if staying healthy, saving money and earning rewards and winning great prizes wasn’t enough. Now you have a whole month dedicated to bicycles and all the ways they can benefit your life. That’s right May is National Bike and Bike Everywhere Spokane month, it’s time to ditch the car and celebrate the human powered two wheel commute!
Spring has arrived, the weather is beautiful and there are lots of great bicycling activities going on, so what better time to give commuting by bicycle a try! During national bike month there’s national bike to school day on May 10th, national bike to work day on May 19th and National Bike to Work Week is May 15th – 19th! So hop on your bike and encourage others to do the same and join the nation and Spokane County as they help reduce pollution, save money and peddle their way to a healthy commute!
The 4th annual National Bike to School Day is May 10th and it’s a chance to encourage the kids in your life to be part of a great event! It’s also a great opportunity to start teaching them about commute alternatives and how important they are. The first-ever National Bike to School Day took place on May 9, 2012, altogether 49 states and the District of Columbia joined together to participate.
May 19th is National Bike to Work Day; it’s a great chance to be part of something on a national scale! Founded by the League of American Bicyclists in 1956, National Bike to Work Day has grown by leaps and bounds and continues to be celebrated in communities from coast to coast.
